Update: Adult Acne – Spironolactone

About 3 months ago I was put on Spironolactone for my hormonal adult acne. If you haven’t seen that first post, have a read for information on why I chose to start treatment and a few pictures.

I was initially told that it could take a few weeks to really see any effects from the medication, but my skin responded pretty well. In a few weeks I was mostly cleared up. I had a follow up with my dermatologist about a month in, and was told to try to wean myself down to once a day with the Clindamycin after 3 months and down to 1 Spironolactone pill (down from 1.5) after 4 months.

My skin didn’t really like cutting down the Clindamycin (of course), but I figured I should stick with it for at least a few weeks to see if my skin adjusts… I will report back on that. In the meantime, I figured I’d update you with some pictures that I’ve taken since those BEFORE and 1 week pictures.

Exhibit A
2 weeks on Spironolactone/Clindamycin

Exhibit B
8 weeks on Spironolactone/Clindamycin

Pretty impressive, right?! I’m really happy with the results so far.

So, for now I’ll stick with the Clindamycin once a day and see how that goes and post another update in a few weeks.

If you have any questions, feel free to send me a note!
